The Music of Cindy and Mark DeGroft

Crystal Reeves is one of the most soulful, bluesy, inventive fiddle players the world has ever heard. Inspired by Mark’s guitar lead on a song she hadn’t heard, it took two passes, then she set the room on fire with her gypsy fiddle on my song Sweet Desperation. She’s played with some of the finest players in every style of music, and is a very gifted and generous teacher.

Dennis Freese is a multi-instrumentalist who plays clarinet with pure grace and finesse. His tone is like warm whiskey and molasses served up by candlelight. An elegant player, a fine teacher, and a sophisticated witty composer, check out his release “The Perilous Escape of Straggler Lemming.”

Cindy is one of the regular hosts of the Folk Show from 6–9 on  Sunday nights on the Rythym & News service of Jefferson Public Radio. It streams live on the site.

Take a look/listen to the original music of Cindy’s cohost Paul Gerardi.
Emy Phelps has a lovely album called “As It Should Be,” produced in the Rogue Valley by Bob DiChiro with many fine local players including Mr. DiChiro, Sam Cuenca, Bob Evoniuk, Joe Diehl, Tristan & Tashina Clarridge, and Alice DiMicele, as well as many others. Emy has made Cindy’s heart sing and lifted her music to a higher plane. Emy laid two different harmonies around Cindy’s voice on her song St Rita; Emy sounded like an angel choir. Check out Emy’s page at Sweet Mercy Records and also her MySpace page.
